How we choose products & test recipes
Recipe development
Every recipe moves through a defined editorial workflow — idea, draft, ready for test, tested, reviewed, and published. We never describe a recipe as “tested” unless a real test record exists with the tester, date, equipment, and measured results. Recipes that have been developed and reviewed but not yet kitchen-tested are marked accordingly and are kept out of search until a founder has cooked and verified them.
Product recommendations
We recommend gear based on editorial fit — whether it genuinely helps you cook the recipe on the page. Each recommendation is tied to a specific cooking task and states who it is best for and where it falls short. We include broad price bands (budget / moderate / premium), never live prices, and we do not publish star ratings, review counts, stock, or Prime status, because those change constantly and we will not fabricate them.
Where we can verify a specific product, we name it. Where we cannot reliably verify a single product page, we recommend the category and link to an Amazon search so you can compare current options yourself. Each product record notes when it was last checked and whether it was editorially researched or hands-on.
Affiliate independence
Editorial selection is done before any commercial consideration. Affiliate links are clearly disclosed, marked rel="sponsored nofollow" when monetized, and can be removed from any page without changing the recipe. We never recommend an item because it pays a higher commission, and we never use fake scarcity or urgency.
Food safety
Safety guidance follows USDA minimum-temperature recommendations and is centralized so numbers never contradict across pages. We do not offer medical or dietary advice.
